 The National Cemetery Administration’s Veterans Legacy Memorial (VLM) has expanded to include Arlington National Cemetery and 26 other Army-, Navy-, and Air Force-managed cemeteries, adding more than 300,000 additional Veteran memorial pages. This expansion brings the total number of VLM Veteran pages to more than 4.8 million, and each page is an opportunity to share memories and keep Veteran legacies alive. To date, nearly 60,000 memories have been shared to VLM.
VLM has also been improved as a direct result of your feedback.
  • The Basic Search feature now includes separate fields for Last Name and First Name, a Year of Death field has been added, and users can now narrow down the cemetery location by state/territory.
  • The logic that returns search results has also been improved, making it easier to find Veterans.
  • A brand-new feature allows VLM visitors to add Personal Achievements to a Veteran’s page. Personal Achievements are now the third type of Milestone available (in additional to existing Military Timelines and Service Achievements), and they celebrate meaningful moments such as graduating from high school or college, getting married, starting a family, retiring, etc.
As always, the VLM Customer Support Team moderates all user-submitted content to ensure it conforms to the VLM User Policy and will be available to assist users as needed over the Memorial Day weekend, and then during their normal operating hours Monday to Friday (excluding Federal Holidays) from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Central Time at [email protected] or 1-866-245-1490. Thank you for your contribution to Preserving Veteran Legacies.

Fax all discharge documentation to the National Cemetery Scheduling Office at 1-866-900-6417 and follow-up with a phone call to 1-800-535-1117.

Military Funeral Honors
In addition to the Department of Defense military funeral honors program, "Honoring Those Who Served," the Riverside National Cemetery Memorial Honor Detail (MHD) is generally available Monday through Friday to provide military funeral honors for veterans. MHD teams are strictly volunteers and vary in size and scope, from folding and presenting the flag only, to full honors with a rifle salute and bugler. All military funeral honors performed by the MHD are provided at NO COST to the family. Once a committal service has been scheduled, families can arrange military honors by calling Chaplain Joe or Chaplain Erica to get that special number.
